Ask Lindsay
On January 10, 2012, we lost an extraordinary advocate for students with special needs. OACRS and its members are shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Mr. Lindsay Moir, Education Advocate.
Many families will remember Lindsay for helping them understand the Special Education system in Ontario and how best to advocate on behalf of their children.
Providing useful information and resources for parents and families has always been a priority for OACRS. For several years, Lindsay has been instrumental in helping OACRS achieve this priority. Through his weekly ‘Ask Lindsay’ column he has been assisting parents and families with navigating the education system in Ontario.
When it comes to advocating for special needs students in Ontario, perhaps no one was as well informed and experienced as Lindsay Moir.
The impact of Lindsay's passion for special education and advocacy for students and their families across Ontario is immeasurable. He will be missed.
Since January 10, many families have been in contact with OACRS to express their appreciation of Lindsay’s dedication to students with special needs, here are just a couple of the comments we have received:
- ...he was a tireless advocate, imparting his knowledge and insight for families to achieve the best quality of life for children with special needs.
- His life work and passion for advocating for students with differences had an immeasurable impact on countless families across the province.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Moir family at this sad time.
