OACRS welcomes increased funding for children’s services

The $17.8 million dollars in additional funding over the next three years announced in the 2016 Ontario Budget will help children and youth receive coordinated support at home, at school and in the community.

Under the Special Needs Strategy, communities across the province have been working to develop a system that is more accessible, coordinated and centred on the needs of children, youth and their families. This investment is another step in providing families with seamless services.

Ontario’s CTCs are among many of the providers at community planning tables working to make things better for children and youth with special needs and their families. Through community planning processes shaped by the input of families, partners are working together so that every child and youth with special needs in Ontario will be identified as early as possible, will benefit from seamless integration of speech and language services, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, and for those with complex and/or multiple needs, obtain the coordinated support they need.
